چکیده

In this paper, we introduce an analytical study of the impact of high-power amplifier (HPA) nonlinear distortion (NLD) on the bit error rate (BER) of multicarrier techniques. Two schemes of multicarrier modulations are considered in this work: the classical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and the filter bank-based multicarrier using offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM), including different HPA models. According to Bussgang’s theorem, the in-band NLD is modeled as a complex gain in addition to an independent noise term for a Gaussian input signal. The BER performance of OFDM and FBMC/OQAMmodulations, transmitting over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh fading channels, is theoretically investigated and compared to simulation results. For simple HPA models, such as the soft envelope limiter, it is easy to compute the BER theoretical expression. However, for other HPA models or for real measured HPA, BER derivation is generally intractable. In this paper, we propose a general method based on a polynomial fitting of the HPA characteristics and we give theoretical expressions for the BER for any HPA model.

Performances Comparisons of Papr Reduction Scheme for Fbmc/oqam and Ofdm Systems

Multi-carrier transmission scheme such as OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) has some disadvantages of large PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) compared to a single carrier transmission scheme. Similar to other multicarrier systems like OFDM, a fundamental drawback of FBMC/OQAM(Filter Bank Multicarrier with Offset QAM) systems is the large PAPR of the signal. In this paper, we co...

Decoding Schemes for FBMC with Single-Delay STTC

Orthogonally multiplexed Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (O-QAM) with Filter Banks based Multi Carrier modulation (FBMC) is a multi-carrier modulation scheme that can be considered as an alternative to the conventional orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with cyclic prefix (CP) for transmission over multi-path fading channels. However, as OQAM-based FBMC is based on real orthogona...

Comparison of General Multi-Carrier Schemes in Two Way Relaying Channels

In this paper multi-carrier transmission schemes applying general waveforms are discussed within two-phase two way relay channels. Here, two users communicate simultaneously on the same resources to an assisting relay. The relay has to cope with the superposition of both users, interferences of the channel and additional practical impairments like frequency and timing offsets. To be more robust...

BER analysis of FBMC-OQAM systems with Phase Estimation Error

This paper analyzes the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of filter bank multicarrier systems with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-OQAM) in the presence of phase offset. We consider that the FBMC intrinsic-interference has a Gaussian probability distribution, and we derive the BER analytical expressions for multilevel modulation (M-OQAM) over Rayleigh flat fading channels. Analytica...

Intrinsic interference mitigating coordinated beamforming for the FBMC/OQAM based downlink

In this work, we propose intrinsic interference mitigating coordinated beamforming (IIM-CBF)-based transmission strategies for the downlink of multi-user multiple-input-multiple-out (MIMO) systems and coordinated multi-point (CoMP) systems where filter bank based multi-carrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) is employed. Our goal is to alleviate the dimensionality constr...
